Confession at 5:00. Mass at 5:15 or 5:30, set by when the men who sign up start their shift. Coffee at the door. You're on the job by 6.
Mass and confession run on a schedule built for people who don't start work at 5 or 6 in the morning. If you're on a construction crew, working a shift, or driving a long commute before sunrise, this Mass is built around your schedule.
The church opens and a priest hears confessions, whenever one is available for it. Men arrive by car, by transit, and in carpools formed the night before.
Every man there has a leader who knows his name and calls him if he misses a week.
Mass begins at the time set by the men who signed up: 5:15 or 5:30 a.m., whichever fits when they start work. It's the full rite, spoken, no music, and it starts and ends on time. Fifteen minutes.
The homily runs three minutes or less, straight to the point: meat, not milk (Hebrews 5:12–14).
Mass ends at 5:45. In the hall, hot coffee and a grab-and-go breakfast are ready, made by a lay team every week. If you carpooled, your ride is waiting. If your shift starts later, stay for coffee and conversation before you go.
Parishes add the rest as their team grows. When you sign up, you'll see which level your nearest Warriors Mass has reached.
A ride to church is one thing. A ride to the job site with a man who was just kneeling next to you is another. Carpools form the night before, and the men in them are the same men who show up for you if you miss a week.
Starting a Warriors Mass at your parish takes a priest willing to celebrate an early Mass, a small lay team to run everything else, and one person to get it started. That's you.
What it costs your parish: nothing but the early hour. The lay team handles setup, hospitality, carpools, and promotion. The only thing asked of a priest is to celebrate Mass, and hear confessions when he can.
A short Mass built for men who start work early.
You're signed up. We'll text you as soon as there's a Warriors Mass near you, with the exact time and place.
Help start a Warriors Mass where you live.
Thank you. Someone from the founding team will reach out this week to talk about where you fit.
We're starting small on purpose: one Mass a month, at one parish, this fall. If that goes well, we'll run a short test at Advent. None of this happens without priests willing to say yes.
